A new research institute focussed on green matters has been founded at the University of Limerick. The new centre, the Charles Parsons Research Initiative (CPI), opened on Monday by Eamon Ryan, minister for energy.
The CPI has been established to consider issues of national importance in energy and help the country make the transition from fossil fuels to sustainable energy.
The CPI will create an additional 208 posts in sustainable energy, consisting of 20 researchers, 34 PhD studentships and 154 undergraduate students.
