Oil price record goes again while Microsoft launch carbon reducing server

Written by
On a day when world record oil prices were again surpassed (see here ), Microsoft has launched a new technology (see here ) which it says could cut over two million tonnes of CO2 every year - about the same emissions as the Poolbeg power station, or 392,000 mid-sized cars.

It's not clear from the information seen by Construct Ireland whether this carbon reduction figure also takes into account the knock-on effect of potentially substantially reducing cooling requirements for server farms, which typically are massive users of air conditioning.
